In January-February of 2018, 482 electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine, reports “Investor”.
The number of electric cars registered in Ukraine increased by 60% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the number of used cars increased by 82%, while the number of new ones decreased by 19%
The sales leader is the Nissan Leaf model, whose sales increased by 32% to 346 units, while the share of used cars of this model is 96%.
The second position is occupied by the BMW i3. There are 30 registered units, including 18 used. The Tesla Model S was purchased by 20 people, 14 of whom preferred to buy used cars.
The “UkrAutoProm” Association reports that during the same period there were such cars as Hyundai Ioniq (7 pcs.), Tesla Model Х (4 pcs.) and Chevrolet Volt (2 pcs.) on the market.
It should be noted that from January 1st, 2018, the import of electric cars to Ukraine is exempt from VAT and excise duty (a similar privilege applies to their production in Ukraine).
However, despite the figures, electric vehicles market continues to remain a marginal phenomenon in Ukraine. It is the reason for the poor development of the relevant infrastructure, which requires significant investment.
